  1. To be fair, it’s Marvel who’s more like that lately. To the actual detriment of its stories. If you look back, almost all mainstream comics have been about equality and tolerance even back to the 60’s and 70’s (starting with the silver age of comics) but they weren’t preachy and in your face about it to the point where they derailed the plot and made everything a one-note propaganda message with almost no entertainment at all.

Plus, there’s the total lack of imagination shown by writers who refuse to make new characters, and play musical chairs instead with old hero names, and just keep making the same old boring tropes (villain of the week / incompetent bad guy who always gets beaten by a mary sue hero) just with a new name / face / race / gender. Who cares if the “hero” is new if they’re not really that new, and the writing involving them totally sucks?

  2. haven’t read comics recently but it’s a great joke and a sad truth. nowadays you need to have a heroine and god forbids she suffers even an scratch from the villain of the day/week/film/story/whatever.
truth to be told, I’m already waiting to see a female Asian as the new captain america. I have nothing against females or Asian people being heroic but we are reaching absurd limits so why not? let’s have a female non-american captain america. just remember. no (short) skirts or heels. that’s objectification.
